World Physical Activity Day - April 6th

The Agita Mundo Network is organizing the celebration of the World Day for Physical Activity on April 6th, and main topic will be “Every Step Counts”. Celebrations can be held throughout the month of April, called the Green Month. This special date used to be celebrated in the five continents, reaching over 2500 events around the world.

On April 6th 2002, the World Health Organization has celebrated the World Physical Day with the title Agita Mundo: Move for Health to hightlight the success of Agita São Paulo, carried out by the Sao Paulo State Secretariat of Health and the Center of Studies of the Physical Fitness Research Laboratory – CELAFISCS. It has also inspired the creation of the Physical Activity Network for the Americas – RAFA/PANA; and the Agita Mundo Network, founded in 2002.

The traditional celebrations of the World Day for Physical Activity includes:

 

  • Walking Parades;
  • Good Practices Forums;
  • Dancing and other sports activities;
  • Blitz in important city intersections;
  • Activities, such as blocking the elevator for some period;
  • launching a community program to promote PA;
  • media contact;
  • drawing posters, among others.

 

A special event is the Virtual Walking! On April 6th, at 10 am, take your computer and bombard the internet, facebook, Instagram, youtube, whats app, twitter with messages of encouragement to an active life style.
